There’s a lot of life and energy in Westcore and Washington Square right now, and we’re excited about what’s happening! At the same time, we know there are more stories to hear, more ideas to discover, and real challenges that neighbors and local businesses are navigating every day. Because of that, we’re bringing together a group of neighbors to spend some time investing in hearing from the community so that we can support and celebrate neighbors and businesses and meet actual, real needs.

Starting in May, we will be gathering a team to reach out to neighbors and learn about their experience living in the Westcore neighborhood. We’ll gather monthly to discuss what we’ve heard and from there on, we’ll collaborate to turn those conversations, relationships, and insights into meaningful action, leading the way for community change and connection by starting from the ground up!

We’re calling this shared effort The Core Collective. If you care about this neighborhood, are ready to get to know others, and want to be part of the wellbeing and flourishing of our beautiful community, we’d love to have you be a part.

Meet Us for Coffee!

We’re hosting an informational meeting in the community room of Upsidedown Coffee in Washington Square on May 22, 7-8pm to share more about what this could look like and how you can be involved. Come join us for coffee, treats, and let’s talk about how we can work together to make Westcore an event more amazing community to live and work in.

Whether you’ve been a block connector in the past or are just looking for a way to get more connected, you’re invited!

Our 2026 Goals

  • Connect with neighbors from across all 62 blocks in Westcore

  • Hear from local businesses

  • Listen well and identify shared hopes, needs, and challenges

  • Compile the findings into a neighborhood listening report that will help guide future neighbor-led programs, gatherings, and initiatives

Through door-to-door connection, small teams of two will meet neighbors block-by-block to hear their experiences and learn what matters most to them. These conversations will be captured through our Neighborhood Survey, helping us recognize patterns, needs, and opportunities across the neighborhood.
